My name is Don Yates. Beginning with the 2011 football season, I will now be the Head Coach of the Freshmen Football team. This is an important year in the development of your student-athlete. There will be more expected of them this year from the standpoint of spring football as well as team camp in the summer.

There is a calendar that will be on the website that shows the important dates for the spring and summer. In order for us to achieve our goal of being the best 6A program in the state all of our student-athletes need to participate in all of our team activities. Summer Pride is a great chance for them to get into better physical condition as well as get some academic help to get to the level they need to be at. We are here to help them in any way we can.

We will be making an announcement soon about a Freshmen Parent meeting to discuss the calendar, needs for the team, and your participation in the Booster Club. The old saying of “It takes a village to raise a child” is true when it comes to the success of an athletic program. My door is always open to discuss anything concerning your student-athlete. I will have a policy sheet that will be given to all parents/guardians at this meeting.

The thing to remember is that we are here for the betterment of your student-athletes. We look forward to meeting you and sharing our vision for the Rougher Football Program. Just like we say every day, “It’s always a great day to be a Rougher…”
